A few of us have been talking about going to see the hill top finish Tuesday May 17 on Gibraltar Rd.  They are many awesome things written about that climb and would be great to organise a NCCC trip.  Here are some links

Made reservations at the Santa Barbara beach front motel 6 for the 15th thru to the morning of the 18th. Going to leave right after the finish here on Sunday. Been wanting to check out the cycling around Santa Barbara for a while now, as well as see the hill top finish on Gibraltar rd.

Santa Barbara has some of the best cycling in Southern California. If it wasn't for the Santa Barbara 100 in October, I would of probably joined you guys up there for the Amgen. I highly recommend doing the Old San Marcos Painted Cave climb if you like steep climbing. I believe it is 7 miles at 9% but the descent is crazy fun.

Thanks Will. I really appreciate any suggestions.

Hi, just saw this thread.   I'm planning to camp at El Capitan state park just north of Santa Barbara on Monday night,  and ride up Gibraltar road to see the stage.  Was planning to return via Painted Cave.   There are plenty of campsites available, I'm in site 87.

I will be there on Gibraltar rd somewhere. Have not made any plans for a ride that day yet. Here is my cell  6199207045

Hi, sorry I didn't see the reply.   I will be riding up with Bob Sheldon,  we'll try to find a spot near the top on the steep bit.  I'm pretty sure I'm too slow to ride with you, or Bob either for that matter, but if you want to meet up call.  My cell is 978-473-2619.  This should be fun!
