Nothing.  But if anyone knows of a 16' or 20' enclosed trailer for sale that's at a good price, please let me know! They will also be looking for replacement folding tables, ez-ups (shade) and chairs to replace the equipment that's needed for running the Tour de Big Bear event.

toward the coast ?

Heads up Clippers,

Weather service says 93 deg in Fallbrook tomorrow. I'm making the command decision to change the ride to a cooler more coastal route, with some front loaded climbing. The route has a couple of new roads for us, so I can lead the way if needed.

I would suggest stopping at Oak Riparian at mile 8 for a quick early bathroom break, which seems to be popular, then longer stop at South Ponto Beach, mile 22.

Really sorry to hear this. Any breaks in the case yet?

Ken - I really love my EVOC travel bag. Click here for some photos. I'm not willing to sell, but can lend it to an NCCC member who will take good care of it. Mine was bought in 2017 and the interior mounting frame they sell now is better. I bought this as I went on a tour traversing the rim of the Alps from Ljubljana, Slovenia to Nice in 2016 with 20 other folks, the majority of whom travelled with EVOCs all over the world. I figured they knew what they were doing. ;)

I currently use an Orucase "Ninja" for airplane trips, but my 61cm frame bike doesn't really fit and it's a hassle to drop the fork for the Orucase. TSA messed up last time and didn't correctly repack the bike (since it's such a tight fit) and some things got bent.

I'm looking for a recommendation for a bike travel case or bag. Topeak Gopak X? EVOC? Thule? Do you have one that you want to sell?

Club Rides & Events / All rides on Sat., May 10th
Last post by Steve Fox - May 06, 2025, 09:39:24 AM
All rides:  possible excessive heat warning this Saturday.
Likely to be mid- to high-80s by the end of the ride.
Advise bringing extra water and possibly electrolytes to stave off cramps during hot weather riding.

Quote from: Daniel Upton on May 05, 2025, 05:00:20 PMSuper interesting!  Question:  Are the non-circular zones as easy to visually detect as the circles?  I regularly notice the circular ones, which have that obvious circle showing, but maybe I'm overlooking the others.
Daniel - I've seen all loop wire geometries as indicated on our Wires to the Tires slide. The only time you can't see where the wires are is when a slurry seal overlay hides them. You have to guess where they are so it's nice if they put a stencil on there showing where the wheel goes (rare in SD County) or after they do a full pavement resurface where the wires need to be reset.

Quote from: Cody Barnes on May 05, 2025, 04:21:19 PMInteresting idea! I initially thought that a ferro-magnetic metal was required to trip the sensors. But apparently any conductive material works.
Cody - Read the paragraph on page 3 of attached which starts "There is a common misconception that an object must be ferrous (include iron) to activate a traffic signal loop sensor, or that a ferrous object will perform better." Read Common Rim Materials paragraph at the end to show performance of aluminum as the conductor.

I haven't done this myself yet and ymmv (mine, too). Phil Young, head of the defunct local Wheelmen chapter, is the source of the 90% anecdote I mentioned at first and who shared this with me.
